Finding your first love

It’s Valentine’s Day, your alone, possibly sad, and looking for a way to forget being single on this day.  I have a great idea – let’s rediscover our first love – the one who allows us to even love to begin with:

We love Him because He first loved us.  1st John 4:19

The only reason we can even exhibit an ounce of love is because God showed His love to us first.  The love that sacrifices, forgives, and comforts.  God’s love is perfect.  He will never leave us when we make a mistake, He will never leave us for another, He will never hurt or neglect us.  God’s love is everything good.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

God so loved us that He gave His only son Jesus to die for us so that our mistakes would be erased forever!  The greatest love anyone can know is a love where one sacrifices for the other.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.  John 15:13

Spend this Valentine’s weekend rediscovering the first love you knew – the first true love of our lives – the love of Jesus Christ!
